Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, October 30, 2014

A cold front will move over the western Atlantic on Thursday, while a separate cold front will approach the West Coast.

An extensive cold front, stretching across the Eastern Seaboard and the Southeast, will continue to advance eastward on Thursday. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible from the Deep South to the Mid-Atlantic, while rainy weather will linger over northern New England. Fall like conditions will settle in across the eastern third of the country, as temperatures are expected to drop 10 to 20 degrees behind the frontal boundary.

Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will move further northeastward over eastern Canada. Light rain will trail this system over portions of the upper Midwest and the Northeast, while a mixture of rain and snow will be possible across northeast Minnesota and northern Wisconsin.

A separate cold front will approach the West Coast on Thursday. This system will influence an onshore flow from the Pacific, bringing another round of rain to the Pacific Northwest, northern California and the upper Intermountain West. Due to the warm nature of this system, snow showers will be confined to the higher elevations of the Cascades and the northern Rockies. High pressure over the central Rockies will keep conditions clear across the Four Corners, the Great Basin and the Southwest.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Wednesday have ranged from a morning low of 11 degrees at Hettinger, N.D. to a high of 89 degrees at Immokalee, Fla.
