Ohio State frosh to miss season with knee injury

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Freshman forward Makayla Waterman is expected to miss the 2014-15 season after undergoing knee surgery on Tuesday.

Waterman tore the meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament in her knee in the team’s first practice on Oct. 6.

The former Kettering, Ohio, native was a top-35 recruit. She helped Fairmont High School to the 2013 Ohio Division I state title where she scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the championship game. Waterman was part of a Buckeye recruiting class ranked among the top 10 in the country.
