9 charged with drug trafficking in Md., Va.

BALTIMORE (AP) — A federal grand jury has indicted nine alleged members of a Baltimore-based drug trafficking enterprise with ties to Virginia, New York and Texas that prosecutors say is linked to a 2012 homicide.

The alleged members of the Jenifer Drug Trafficking Organization face drug trafficking conspiracy charges in federal court in Baltimore after an indictment was unsealed last week.

Prosecutors say law enforcers seized 27 kilograms of cocaine worth $3 million and more than $2 million in jewelry from members of the group.

Prosecutors say the organization is also implicated in the slaying of John Moore in Baltimore, who was shot after police seized 30 kilograms of cocaine from him. Prosecutors say Moore was arrested with the girlfriend of the organization’s leader, and the killing is connected to the cocaine seizure.
