KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Authorities in Afghanistan say two Afghan civilians have been killed in a roadside bomb blast in the country’s capital, Kabul.

An Interior Ministry statement said three civilians were wounded in the explosion, which happened Tuesday in a western part of the city.

The blast damaged a civilian vehicle. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Roadside bombings are a major threat to both NATO and Afghan security forces, as well as civilians. Afghan security officials recently said that more than 80 present of security forces casualties are caused by roadside bombs.

The Taliban is increasing its attacks ahead of the majority of foreign troops withdrawing from the country by the end of the year.
