Hurley leads Delaware past Elon 34-24

NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Trent Hurley accounted for two touchdowns to lead Delaware to a 34-24 victory over Elon on Saturday night.

Hurley connected with Nick Boyle for a 1-yard touchdown on the Blue Hens second drive. Wes Hills and Jalen Randolph each ran in from the 1, and then Malcolm Brown returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown to give Delaware (4-2, 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association) a 27-3 halftime lead.

Mike Quinn threw touchdown passes of 5 and 10 yards to pull Elon (1-5, 0-2) within 27-17 at the end of the third quarter. Hurley ran for a 6-yard touchdown before Quinn answered with his third touchdown pass, a 35-yard TD strike to Tre Lennon to pull the Phoenix back within 10 with 8:52 remaining.

Elon’s last threat stalled when Derrick Saulsberry sacked Quinn with 2:39 to play.

Hills finished with 111 yards rushing, his second for over 100 yards this season.
