Western Michigan tops Ball State 42-38

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Zach Terrell threw for three touchdowns, Jarvion Franklin ran for three more and the defense made a late goal-line stand Saturday in Western Michigan’s 42-38 comeback win over Ball State.

Franklin led Western Michigan’s surge with TD runs of 2 and 4 yards in the third quarter and a 54-yard scoring run in the fourth to make it a three-point game. Terrell hit Daniel Braverman on a 12-yard TD pass for the go-ahead score with 1:25 to play.

Ball State (1-5, 0-2 Mid-American) had a chance to win but turned the ball over downs on the Western Michigan 8.

Franklin gained 161 yards on 24 carries for the Broncos (3-3, 1-1) and Terrell was 20 of 29 for 290 yards passing and an interception.

Jack Milas threw for four touchdowns and Jahwan Edwards ran for another for Ball State. Milas was 26 of 44 for 326 yards passing.
