Community rallies behind 9-year-old shot near playground

WASHINGTON — Northeast D.C. community members gathered on Friday evening in support of Jaydan Stancil. He is 9-year old boy who was shot in the head after getting caught in a gunfight near a playground last week.

His mother Monique Nichols expressed her thanks to the police officers who raced her son to the hospital.

She says her son is making progress. Police are still investigating the shooting.
