5 dead in rear-end collision in Oxon Hill

OXON HILL, Md. (AP) — Prince George’s County police say two children and three adults have died after a crash in Oxon Hill.

Investigators say it appears an Acura was stopped at a traffic light when it was rear-ended by a Mercedes near the intersection of Livingston Road and Livingston Terrace. Police say crews initially responded to the scene for a car fire about 9:40 p.m.

Police say the driver of the Acura was the sole survivor in that car. Two women and two children in the Acura died.

One female passenger in the Mercedes was killed. Police say the driver of the Mercedes is in critical condition. A second passenger is in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police say speed and weather may have been factors.
