WASHINGTON — Eight Catholic University students were robbed at gunpoint Thursday evening, after being approached by two men in a wooded area near the campus.

Police say one of the men had a handgun when the robbery occurred, at 5:50 p.m., in the 600 block of 600 Taylor Street, Northeast.

The students were told to hand over iPhones, credit cards, backpacks and other personal items, according to a Catholic University release.

No one was injured, and the suspects fled.

One of the suspects is described as a black middle-aged man, who’s 6 feet tall, about 250 pounds, who was wearing a blue bandanna over his face, and a black hoodie. Police say he was the one who was armed.

The second suspect is described as a black man, 6 feet tall, about 250 pounds, also wearing a black hoodie.

This story has been modified after Catholic University confirmed it was eight students not 10 who had been robbed at gunpoint.
