ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A 26-year-old woman who survived a plane crash in southwest last year has died in an all-terrain vehicle crash.

Alaska State Troopers say the body of Melanie Coffee of Marshall was found Wednesday in the village.

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters says witnesses reported Coffee had been drinking heavily Tuesday and the crash occurred overnight. Peters says the ATV hit a tree and may have traveled at high speed.

No one witnessed the crash. Toxicology exams are planned.

Coffee on Nov. 29 was one of 10 people who left Bethel on a Hageland Aviation Cessna 208 turboprop bound for Mountain Village.

The airplane crashed outside Saint Marys, killing Coffee’s 5-month-old baby and three others.

Coffee walked nearly a mile toward lights in Saint Marys and was found at the village landfill.
