Grizzlies hire Perry as director of player support

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Former NBA player Elliot Perry is adding to his responsibilities with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies say Perry has agreed to become the director of player support for the franchise. His duties will include working with players on facets of life outside of basketball and helping prepare them for long-term success on and off the court.

Perry, a member of the Grizzlies’ ownership group since 2005, also will be chairman of the board for the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation and will continue in a limited capacity as an analyst for the team’s radio broadcasts.

Perry, a Memphis native, played for seven different teams over a 10-year NBA career (1991-92, 1994-2002) that included a two-game stint with the Grizzlies in his final season. He played his college ball at Memphis.

The Grizzlies announced the move on Wednesday.
