Texan arrested in Louisiana with stolen gun

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Police arrested a 29-year-old Texas man who walked into Troop I headquarters in Lafayette possessing a stolen gun.

Trooper Jared L. Sandifer says Allen Norris of Cedar Hill, Texas, was armed with a Glock that was reported stolen from the New Orleans Police Department.

Sandifer says Norris told troopers early Wednesday morning he wanted to turn himself in because there were warrants for his arrest in several states, and that he also wanted to take his own life.

Troopers say Norris had an active warrant out of Alabama for attempted arson, Missouri for a probation violation, and another warrant out of Virginia.

Norris also faces a charge in Louisiana for carrying concealed weapon by a person convicted of felonies.

It was unclear whether Norris has an attorney.
