Angels claim Kieschnick, Marte from Diamondbacks

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels have designated outfielder Brennan Boesch and catcher John Buck for assignment.

The AL West champions made the moves while claiming outfielders Roger Kieschnick and Alfredo Marte off waivers from Arizona on Tuesday.

Boesch batted .187 in 27 games during his first season with the Angels, playing mostly with Triple-A Salt Lake.

Buck signed with the Angels in July, but appeared in only five games.

Kieschnick batted .195 in 25 games this season with the Diamondbacks, who claimed him off waivers from San Francisco in April. He spent most of the season in the minors.

Marte batted .170 in 44 games for Arizona this season, but excelled with Triple-A Reno. He served a 50-game suspension in 2011 for a positive drug test.
