Miner missing after methane explosion in Poland

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Polish officials are searching for a miner who has been missing underground following a methane explosion.

The accident occurred 660 meters (1,265 feet) below the surface Monday evening at the Myslowice-Wesola mine near the southern Polish city of Katowice.

The broadcaster TVN24 is reporting that of 37 miners in the area at the time, all but one managed to escape. They were taken to area hospital, many with burns. TVN24 said that 28 of them were injured, 18 of them seriously.
