TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State starting defensive end Mario Edwards, Jr. and backup running back Mario Pender will sit out Saturday against North Carolina State after suffering concussions last week against Clemson.

Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher announced the moves Thursday.

The top-ranked Seminoles (3-0, 1-0 ACC) will be down two starting defensive linemen after Niles Lawrence-Stample was lost for the season with a torn pectoral muscle against Clemson.

Edwards has eight tackles and a sack this season. Sophomore DeMarcus Walker slides into the starting lineup.

Pender is the top backup to starter Karlos Williams. Pender has rushed for 90 yards with two touchdowns and averages 4.7 yards per carry. Freshman Dalvin Cook, Florida’s Mr. Football as a high school senior, moves up the depth chart.
