TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Tampa Bay Lightning rookie forward Jonathan Drouin will miss three to four weeks due to a right thumb injury.

The team announced Tuesday that the third overall pick in the 2013 draft has a slight fracture of the thumb, which Drouin says occurred when he fell to the ice during practice Thursday.

Drouin, who was expected to make the Lightning opening day roster, added that that injury is disappointing and unfortunate. He will skate on his own until cleared to resume practicing with the team.

Drouin was one of junior hockey’s top players the past two years, finishing with 29 goals and 108 points in 46 games last season for Halifax of the QMJHL.
