Norfolk International Airport traffic declines

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Norfolk International Airport is reporting a decrease in passenger activity for August.

The airport says it experienced a nearly 8 percent drop in the number of passengers who used the airport in August compared with the same month the previous year.

Overall, nearly 275,000 passengers flew through the airport. Since January, passenger traffic has declined more than 3 percent.

The airport says it also experienced a nearly 5 percent drop in cargo shipped in and out of the airport in August compared with the same month in 2013. Since January, cargo activity has decreased more than 7 percent compared with the previous year.
