H Street businesses get $85,000 in grants

The District awarded $85,000 in city grants last week to four businesses on H Street Northeast as part of a program intended to stimulate small business development and expansion while creating jobs for residents along the retail and entertainment strip, the Washington Examiner reported.

The winners included Atlas Vet Clinic, a full-service veterinary hospital, to expand the clinic’s retail offerings; restaurant DC Conscious for façade improvements and to open its floor plan; clothing store Euro Style Inc. for façade improvements, build-out of additional retail storage and an HVAC system upgrade; and H Street Main Street, a nonprofit which advocates for commercial enterprises along the corridor and servicing them through case work, for focus groups on retail in the corridor and to fund a retail summit.
