Ex-student pleads guilty to possessing ricin

WASHINGTON (AP) — A former Georgetown University student has pleaded guilty to having the toxin ricin in his dorm room.

Nineteen-year-old Daniel Milzman of Bethesda, Maryland, pleaded guilty to unregistered possession of a biological agent or toxin Monday in federal court in Washington. If the court accepts a plea deal, Milzman will be sentenced to between one and two years in prison on Nov. 10.

According to a statement of offense, on March 17, Milzman told a dorm adviser that he had made ricin in his room. Prosecutors say the next day, law enforcement officers found a small plastic bag containing ricin in a desk in Milzman’s room, where he said it could be found.
