Md. officer suspended after alleged assault

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — A Prince George’s police officer has been suspended after being charged with assault.

The department says probationary officer Themis Speis was involved in a domestic situation and that an unnamed victim was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

An attorney is not listed for Speis in court records.

The 27-year-old Speis has been with the department for about a year and a half.

He’s assigned to the patrol bureau in the county’s District 6 office. His police powers have been suspended pending an investigation of the assault allegation.
