Ex-Virginia camp counselor sentenced for sex abuse

CLINTWOOD, Va. (AP) — A Norfolk man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy at a Christian camp in Dickenson County.

Media outlets report Tarrelle Robinson recently received a 40-year sentence, with 30 years of that suspended.

Robinson, who was a counselor at Camp Jacob in 2011, entered an Alford plea. It acknowledges the state has sufficient evidence to prosecute but isn’t an admission of guilt.

Dickenson County Circuit Judge Henry Vanover rejected Robinson’s claim that he wasn’t a sexual predator.
