Jets re-sign CB Ellis Lankster

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have re-signed special teams standout Ellis Lankster a day after waiving cornerback Leon McFadden.

Lankster was released by the Jets on Sept. 1, a surprising move because the cornerback had been a primary backup in the secondary and a major contributor on special teams.

He has played the last three years with the Jets after being a seventh-round pick by Buffalo in 2009. Lankster also played with Hamilton of the Canadian Football League in 2010.

McFadden, claimed by the Jets off waivers from the Browns on Aug. 31, was inactive for New York’s opener last Sunday against Oakland.
