Lalovic elected president of UWW

Nenad Lalovic has been elected to a six-year term as the president of the newly-christened United World Wrestling.

Lalovic took over as the acting president of the organization formerly known as FILA after the IOC recommended it be removed from the Olympics last year. He was elected to a new term Sunday during a meeting in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, site of this week’s world championships.

Lalovic says the steps taken by the new UWW will help convince sponsors and the media that wrestling is “worth investing in.”

United World Wrestling also unveiled a new logo and elected four new members to its executive council.
