Stephen F. Austin beats Incarnate Word 38-3

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) — Gus Johnson scored four touchdowns and ran for a career-best 252 yards to lead Stephen F. Austin to 38-3 victory over Incarnate Word on Saturday night.

Johnson, who has 2,502 career rushing yards, is now SFA’s all-time rushing touchdown leader with 33. He surpassed Leonard Harris, who scored 32 during his 1992-95 career. Johnson had two rushing touchdowns in the first quarter as the Lumberjacks took an early lead during a game delayed by lightning. SFA led 21-3 at the end of the third quarter.

First-year coach Clint Conque picked up his initial win at SFA (1-1).

Joe Minden and Zach Conque combined for 168 yards passing, hitting 19 of 29 attempts.

Taylor Woods threw for 186 yards for IWU (0-2). Casey Jennings was his leading receiver, pulling in five passes for 122 yards.
