More retail on the way for Ellsworth Place

WASHINGTON — Downtown Silver Spring’s revitalized Ellsworth Place shopping center is adding more retail to its growing roster of stores and restaurants.

Bump ‘N Grind, a cafe and record store with a barista bar and baked goods, will open on Level 1 this summer. And clothing retailer Twin Fashions will open a store on Level 4, across from Guitar Center, this summer as well.

The Auntie Anne’s pretzel chain opened an Ellsworth Place location on level 2 in April.

Ellsworth Place’s anchor tenants include Burlington Coat Factory, Marshalls, Michaels, Ross and TJ Maxx. Guitar Center and Dave & Buster’s opened last fall.

Other retailers and restaurants include Not Your Average Joe’s, Foot Locker and MOD pizza.

Petrie Richardson Ventures and Rockwood Capital acquired the former City Place Mall in 2012 and renovated and reopened the 350,000-square-foot property at 8661 Colesville Rd., across from the Fillmore Silver Spring, in 2016.

Movie theaters are starting to reopen. Will anyone go?

For the first time in roughly five months, AMC Theatres will pop the popcorn, dim the lights, and start the show. But will anyone buy a ticket?
