Rule for college football uniforms: Keep it classic.

Ahead of the 2014 college football season, the AP asked its panel of Top 25 voters, who are known for ranking the nation’s top teams each week, to weigh in on which team had the sharpest uniforms.

From Penn State’s basic blue and white to Michigan’s maize and blue to Notre Dame’s golden helmets, the best-dressed in college football turn out to be some of the most classic.

(Except for Oregon. The Ducks’ ever-changing, eye-catching bold colors are also a big hit.)

The top vote-getters, in order of finish: Penn State, Oregon, Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama and USC.
