Part of Rock Creek Park trail closed for 1 week

WASHINGTON – Part of Rock Creek Park’s trail will be closed for a week as part of a reconstruction project in the area.

A section of Rock Creek Park’s paved trail will be closed from Tilden Street/Park Road NW to Porter Street NW, the National Park Service said. The closure will last from Wednesday through Tuesday, June 13.

During the time of its closure, construction crews will repave the trail across Bluff Bridge. The work is part of the three-year Beach Drive reconstruction project, which is slated to end in fall 2019.

While construction is ongoing, pedestrians and cyclists will be directed onto detours to follow Beach Drive down to Piney Branch Parkway. Between Piney Branch Parkway and Porter Street NW, pedestrians and cyclists will be directed onto a dirt path.
