Police: Missing Fairfax Co. firefighter made contact with family

WASHINGTON — A Fairfax County, Virginia, firefighter who was reported missing Saturday has made contact with his family Monday morning, D.C. police told WTOP. Earlier, officials had asked for the public’s help in locating Brian Wood, 40, who they said was last seen in the 3600 block of Veazey Street in Northwest D.C. on May 14. D.C. police have not said where Wood is or was and have released no details surrounding the circumstances of his apparent disappearance. Police initially released a description of Wood, who was described as a white man with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5-foot-5 and 155 pounds. Police said Wood was last seen wearing a white tank top and blue pants. He drives a light blue Subaru Forester with black rims and D.C. tags, according to a Fairfax County Fire Facebook post. Police had asked anyone with information regarding Wood’s whereabouts to call D.C. police at 202-727-9099, or the Youth and Family Services Division at 202-576-6768.

Super Pet Expo offers its first in-person event in Virginia since pandemic began

A Virginia pet expo running through Sunday is hoping to help those who recently got new pets to find what they need. Eric Udler, producer of the Super Pet Expo at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, said that there has been a significant increase in pets being adopted with so many people working from home.
