Parkway widening project on schedule in Prince William

WASHINGTON – Road-weary drivers have only a few months left of lane closures and construction delays related to a project to widen a portion of the Prince William County Parkway in Woodbridge. Currently, drivers leaving the Potomac Mills area on the parkway face a bottleneck at Minnieville Road where three travel lanes narrow to two. The project underway now will keep the three lanes flowing to Old Bridge Road.

“December first of this year we should be completed, and we are on schedule,” says Sharif Bialy, construction manager at the Prince William County Department of Transportation

Road and related improvements on the Prince William Parkway between Old Bridge and Minnieville roads include:

  • Eastbound sidewalk
  • Westbound asphalt trail
  • New traffic signal at Elm Farm Road
  • Double left turn lane onto Hillandale Drive
  • A total of six travel lanes – three in each direction

The project has been underway since September 2013.
