DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — The Arab American National Museum in Michigan is launching an eclectic, diverse concert series featuring multimedia and spoken word, Arabic classical and folk, Native American hip-hop and Afro-Cuban-infused jazz fusion.

The Dearborn museum’s Global Fridays concert series kicks off Sept. 12 with “Eleven Reflections on September,” a multimedia performance inspired by the annual observance of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. It’s the work of New York writer, director and cultural activist Andrea Assaf.

Lakota hip-hop artist Frank Waln is scheduled to appear Nov. 14 in a show featuring traditional drumming and dancing alongside drum machines and electronic sounds.

Others appearing during the fall season are the Layaali Arabic Music Ensemble on Oct. 24 and Francisco Mora-Catlett & AfroHORN on Dec. 5.

The evening performances are held in the museum’s auditorium.
