Frederick Co. school bus involved in I-270 crash

WASHINGTON – A Frederick County school bus flipped over while traveling along Interstate 270 in Urbana Wednesday afternoon, closing southbound lanes on the interstate for several hours. Two other vehicles were involved in the crash, said Michael Doerrer, a spokesman for Frederick County Public Schools. One student was on the bus at the time of the crash, but the extent of the student’s injuries were not yet clear, Doerrer said. The Frederick News Post reported the student and an adult assistant who was on the bus at the time were both taken to the hospital with minor injuries. All lanes reopened on the interstate at Route 80 about 3:40 p.m. The Frederick County Fire Department was on scene investigating the cause of the crash, which has been moved to the shoulder.

The same area of I-270 closed for hours Tuesday when a dump truck overturned.
