Garza pitches Mexico past Venezuela 11-1 in LLWS

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) — Juan Garza pitched five strong innings to lead Mexico past Venezuela 11-1 on Tuesday in a Little League World Series elimination game.

Garza gave up one run and four hits while striking out six in a game that was called due to the mercy rule after Mexico scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to up by 10. Garza also hit a solo homer leading off the bottom of the first inning.

Ruy Martinez had three hits and three RBIs for Mexico and Daniel Quiroz also had three hits with two RBIs.

Mexico advanced to a matchup Wednesday against the winner of the South Korea-Japan game.
