Ami’s Holiday wins Breeders’ Stakes

TORONTO (AP) — Ami’s Holiday won the 124th running of the $500,000 Breeders’ Stakes on Sunday at Woodbine, the third and final leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.

Ridden by Luis Contreras, Ami’s Holiday beat Interpol by three-quarters of a length, running 1 1/2 miles on the turf course in 2:30.12. The winner paid $6.70, $3.80 and $2.80.

Ami’s Holiday, owned by Ivan Dalos and trained by Josie Carroll, was the only horse to run all three legs of the Canadian Triple Crown. He finished second behind Lexie Lou in the Queen’s Plate at Woodbine and third behind Coltimus Prime in the Prince of Wales at Fort Erie.

“I think it says a lot about this horse,” Carroll said. “Not many horses can do all three and do them well, so I just think we have an exceptional horse.”
