Two dogs euthanized after attacking children and officer

WASHINGTON – Two dogs that terrorized the Trinidad neighborhood in D.C. last week were euthanized on Saturday.

The two American bulldogs were found in Cheverly on Saturday afternoon by a town police officer. One was already near death. The officer shot the other dog when the animal charged without warning.

Both dogs were euthanized by Animal Control.

It wasn’t until Wednesday that Cheverly police realized that they were the same two dogs that attacked a group of children on Queen Street last Friday

Andre Hawthorne, the man who tried to help the children in Friday’s incident, was bitten by the dogs and is being treated with a series of rabies shots.
