Man injured in gas fire at Md. home

WASHINGTON — An elderly man had to be flown to a local burn center this afternoon after he was injured in a fire at his home in Allentown.

It happened around 5 p.m. on Westchester Court, near Allentown Road.

A spokesman for Prince George’s County Fire tells WTOP the man, who is in his 80s, was using gas to light a fire when it exploded, injuring him and burning a large part of his home.

He is expected to survive.
