Coast Guard medevacs sick passenger from cruise

MIAMI (AP) — Coast Guard officials have rescued a sick passenger from a cruise ship.

Miami Coast Guard officials say they got word Sunday morning that a 26-year old man aboard the cruise ship Carnival Fascination was suffering symptoms of appendicitis about 32 nautical miles east of Lake Worth.

The passenger was medevaced by a small boat and taken to a marina where local emergency medical workers were waiting.

The man was in stable condition at the time of the transfer.
