WASHINGTON — Police arrested a man Thursday after he threatened to harm a judge and said he had a car full of explosives.

Montgomery County police say they received a suspicious call from a man around 9:45 a.m. threatening harm to a Montgomery County judge and several other people.

“He said that he had an explosive device and was going to use it,” said Montgomery County police spokesman Captain Paul Starks.

Police used a vehicle description to track down the suspect and arrested him an hour later near the intersection of Great Falls Road and Maryland Avenue in Rockville, Starks said.

The bomb squad responded and gave the all-clear, determining that there were no explosives in the car.

The event started after a domestic issue, a divorce issue and possible child custody and support issues, Starks said.

Police have not released the man’s name at this time or the circumstances surrounding the threat to the judge.
