Swim advisory issued for part of Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — A swimming advisory has been issued by health officials in Virginia Beach for the southern end of the Sandbridge section of the city.

The advisory was issued Wednesday by the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health. It covers the area from Sea Scape Road to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

Recent testing showed that bacteria levels in the water exceeded state water quality standards.

Signs will be posted on the beach warning that swimming and wading in the area is prohibited.
