Amazon expands ‘same-day’ delivery to Washington

Amazon.com Inc. is expanding its same-day delivery program to Washington, Baltimore and four other cities, bringing to 10 the number of metros where it delivers within hours of a customer’s order.

Same day delivery does not cover everything Amazon sells, but it does say it includes more than a million items. The Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) website now has a “Get It Today” filter that shows only inventory available for same-day delivery.

It will cost Prime members $5.99 for the service.

Orders placed by noon local time, seven days a week, will be delivered before the end of the day.

In addition to Washington and Baltimore, same-day delivery is now available in Dallas, Indianapolis, New York and Philadelphia.

Same-day delivery was initially launched in Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle.
