MIAMI (AP) — Hernan has weakened to a tropical storm far off Mexico’s Pacific coast.

The storm had been a hurricane but posed no threat to land.

Hernan’s maximum sustained winds early Monday are near 70 mph (110 kph) with additional weakening expected during the next two days.

The tropical storm is centered about 360 miles (580 kilometers) southwest of the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula and is moving west-northwest near 15 mph (24 kph).
