Police identify woman murdered in Gaithersburg

WASHINGTON – A Gaithersburg, Maryland man awaits extradition from Virginia after he was picked up in Norfolk, Virginia on charges he murdered his wife.

Montgomery County police say Cola Winbone Beale, 51, told a church friend he killed his wife, June Carlita Beale, in the couple’s home in the 18300 block of Hallmark Court.

Police say the parishioner then called them, and officers forced their way into the home.

There they found Beale, 47, dead. Police say she had “trauma to her body.”

Officers spoke to Cola Beale on his cellphone. They say he admitted killing his wife and gave them his location.

Police in Norfolk picked him up without incident.

June Beale’s body has been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Baltimore for an autopsy.
