Australia’s Willoughby wins supercross

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) — Australia’s Sam Willoughby won the elite men’s supercross and Colombia’s Mariana Pajon took the women’s race Sunday on the final day of the BMX World Championships.

Canada’s Tory Nyhaug was second in the men’s event, and Britain’s Tre Whyte finished third. David Herman of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, was fifth, and Connor Fields of Henderson, Neveda, seventh.

Alise Post of St. Cloud, Minnesota, was second in the women’s race. Dani George of Palmdale, California, was sixth, and Brooke Crain of Visalia, California, finished seventh.

In the junior races, Niek Kimmann of the Netherlands won the men’s title, and Domenica Michelle Azuero Gonzalez of Ecuador topped the women’s field. Sean Gaian of Santee, California, was second in the men’s race, and Shealen Reno of Plano, Texas, was second in the women’s event.
