WASHINGTON — In case your day wasn’t weird enough, here’s something straight from an old horror movie.

A waterway in eastern China turned a blood red color this week, but it hasn’t been confirmed how it happened.

Officials from the Wenzhou Environmental Protection Bureau suspect the water changed color because of illegal dumping, according to ABC News.

Also in the ABC report, residents in the Zhejiang province said the river looked normal at 5 a.m. Beijing time on Thursday morning. An hour later, the river turned red and smelled strange.
