Crash on Beltway leaves six injured

WASHINGTON – Six people were taken to hospitals Friday evening after a crash on the Capital Beltway.

Assistant Chief Scott Graham with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue says it happened around 6:45 p.m. on the inner loop between River Road and I-270.

Graham says an SUV overturned and hit another vehicle.

Two people were thrown from the SUV and a third was trapped.

Of the six people transported, three were classified as having serious and life threatening injuries, two had serious injuries and one had minor injuries.

Maryland State Police are handling the crash investigation.
