Own a drone? Here’s where you can fly it

If you own a drone, you need to know where you can and cannot fly it.

D.C.-based startup Mapbox rolled out a map showing all the areas in Greater Washington (and beyond) where private drone flight is illegal because of its proximity to airports, military installations and national parks, according to In The Capital. You can take a look at the map here.

While commercial drone use is strictly prohibited, non-profit and personal use is still (kind of) permitted while the Federal Aeronautics Administration works on how it wants to regulate it.

Founded in 2010, Mapbox’s mission is to give developers the power to create maps that better embody their products.
