EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — Willie Watson has been named assistant basketball coach at the University of Texas-Pan American.

The appointment was announced Thursday by school officials in Edinburg. Watson replaces Elwyn McRoy, who’s now an assistant coach at Coppin State.

Watson, who played for Alabama, served as interim head coach at Marion Military Institute in 2012-2013.
