Air Canada cancels flight to Israel

TORONTO (AP) — Canada’s largest airline has canceled a flight to Israel and is monitoring the situation after a Hamas rocket exploded near Tel Aviv’s airport.

The move comes after a number of airlines across the world cancelled flights and after the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration told U.S. airlines they are prohibited from flying to the Tel Aviv airport

Air Canada spokeswoman Isabelle Arthur said the flight Tuesday evening was canceled and they will continue to evaluate future flights.

Transport Canada spokeswoman Ashley Kelahear said decisions to cancel flights are made by the airlines themselves.

Anxiety over air travel is high after last week’s shooting down of a Malaysian jet over Ukraine.
