GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Health officials in Gaza City say at least 30 people have been killed in a neighborhood shelled today by Israeli tanks.
The officials say five more bodies are believed buried under the rubble of homes. Hundreds of panicked residents fled the neighborhood, including a woman in a wheelchair waving a white flag.
Some witnesses say there are dead and wounded in the streets and ambulances are unable to access the area.
Some 380 Palestinians and seven Israelis have been killed in the two week conflict.
Israel says it has widened its ground offensive, sending more troops into Gaza after demolishing more than a dozen Hamas tunnels and intensifying tank fire on border areas.
