Body found of Md. man missing from boat accident

ABERDEEN, Md. (AP) — The body of a Maryland boater who went missing on Monday has been recovered.

The Maryland National Guard says 47-year-old John B. Jones of Baltimore, an airman and sergeant assigned to the Warfield Air National Guard Base in Middle River, was found Wednesday near the Gunpowder River by Aberdeen Proving Ground Police.

Jones went missing Monday, when his boat was found abandoned and anchored in the Middle River area. The guard says the cause of death is still under investigation.

Jones, married with a child, twice deployed to Afghanistan in 2006 and 2010.

Four people died in three separate boating accidents in Maryland waters Sunday and Monday. Authorities have said it is unclear whether Jones’ death was related to the severe storms that ran through the area Monday.
