Obama wields selfie stick in new BuzzFeed video

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama showed he’s willing to poke some fun at himself if it will draw attention to his Affordable Care Act.

The president starred in a two-minute video, produced in typical BuzzFeed fashion, entitled “Things everyone does but doesn’t talk about.”

Obama, and an uncredited actor practice posing for selfies in mirrors, and snap self-portraits on smart phones.

The president models sunglasses in the video, sticks out his tongue, pantomimes drawing a gun, and experiments with getting a good shot of himself using a selfie stick.

In the video, speaking into a spotty mirror, the president practices pronouncing “February” as part of his message that the deadline to sign up for health insurance on healthcare.gov is Feb. 15.

After failing to dunk a large cookie in a small glass of milk, the president throws in a “thanks, Obama,” a reference to an ongoing Internet joke that places the blame for most anything — large or small — at the feet of the president.

A source at BuzzFeed confirmed to WTOP that the video was filmed in the White House, and was proposed by the popular online site.

A BuzzFeed source says “the president was a good sport, and came to play.”

Within an hour of posting on Facebook, the video had more than 4-million likes.
